Character flexibility determines achievement

A top-three insurance company in Hong Kong invited me last week to give a talk to their more than 3,000 insurance professionals.

Before the speech, I had lunch with their senior executives. During the meal, I curiously asked, “Are there more of the top salespeople in your company, men or women?”

“Strangely enough, most of them are women.” One of the executives said.

“Do you know the reason behind this?” I said with a smile.

“I don’t know. I’d like to hear the details.”

“The biggest reason here is that women’s personalities are far more flexible than men’s.”

In psycholinguistic programming, there is a famous premise: “In any system, the most flexible person will control the entire system.”

Just imagine, a newborn baby does everything on impulse. When hungry, they cry and fuss, and whenever they feel the need for urination or defecation, they ‘solve’ it. The whole family’s emotions are affected by the baby’s highly flexible behavior.

Of course, in the adult world, we can’t behave like babies. But the greater the flexibility of personality, the more we can control the entire environment.

In a sales promotion environment, the ability of salespeople to present a professional image and have deep knowledge of product content is just the basic condition for closing a deal. Whether the customer ultimately decides to buy depends on making them feel “happy.” People only buy things when they are happy.

So, how can you make customers “happy”?

Women are more easily accepted than men in any environment; Because women can use highly sensitive perception, they interact with people according to different situations, balancing strength and gentleness as their greatest flexibility. Many female salespeople do not insist when customers refuse; instead, they gently ask the reasons behind the situation, ultimately winning the customer’s acceptance. Conversely, when faced with a decision, modern women never hesitate and speak confidently and convincingly. Attentive care has always been women’s specialty; They can perform appropriately in any environment, making customers feel considerate, naturally happily buying from them, and increasing the chances of returning again.

In contrast, men are often taught from a young age to have a more aggressive personality, like ‘bleeding but not crying’ or ‘swallowing blood with broken front teeth.’ Their world is full of ‘no’ and ‘no’, so their personality flexibility is lower than that of women.

In the new generation, women should maximize their flexibility as much as possible, while men should learn anew, letting go of unnecessary principles and beliefs to gain greater flexibility in dealing with others.

At the same time, people with flexible personalities tend to have an open learning attitude and a higher ability to accept new things. Having this learning attitude makes it less likely to be eliminated by modern society.
