Course objectives
As more people pay attention to mental health, psychology has become more popular, and human resources for psychotherapy are also highly valued. Hong Kong’s rapid pace has caused many people to feel stressed, and more and more people are suffering from urban mental illness. We will use counseling and psychological knowledge to alleviate the stress of urban dwellers.
Course content
PSY01 – Psychological Tests for Assessment
PSY02 – Research Methodology and Statistics
PSY03 – Marriage and Family Counselling
This set of materials is well-structured, suitable for both advanced and shallow-level courses, rich in content, and detailed in information. It ensures systematic knowledge across courses while ensuring connections between courses, making it a counseling and psychotherapy textbook suitable for both Hong Kong and the international community. The course consists of a total of 48 hours of face-to-face instruction, with a recommended 30 hours of self-study and 30 hours of work internship. Assessment will require completion of an open-ended graduation thesis.
Admission Requirements and Duration of Study
- Secondary school graduate or;
- Preference given to those with two or more years of experience in psychology (e.g., research);
- Those who have completed relevant certificate or diploma courses and have relevant work experience. *If you do not meet the above requirements but have extensive psychological experience, you will be considered individually based on special circumstances.
Language of instruction
- The language of instruction and exam exercises are primarily in Chinese, supplemented with English professional terms, and the textbooks are primarily in English.
Study format
- Guided by face-to-face instruction and supported by textbooks and reference materials, students can quickly grasp professional and important knowledge. They can study with reference textbooks anytime and anywhere, without affecting family happiness and freely arranging and controlling self-study time. To strengthen learning progress and help students grasp key learning points, the teaching materials are divided into two units: Psychology and Counseling, led by experienced scholars, providing a research and interactive platform for students.
The curriculum will develop in the future
The program adopts the American academic system, with a mindset of ‘capable candidates.’ Students are admitted, and students are exempt from the time and cost of bachelor’s studies. Instead, students can directly enroll in master’s programs for specialized research and explore topics of interest.
Credit transfer
All students can transfer credits to the Admissions Office after completing the diploma program, and apply for the linkage between the Master of Psychology and the Doctor of Psychology. The credits and grades earned through the certificate program are also available.
